Big-5 Ammo prices
They want $53+ for a box of 100 45ACP. Outrageous!!! It was less then 1/2 that a little over a year ago.
Walmart is reasonable, but their cupboard is bare. With the way things are going that box is going to cost $100 in a couple more years. Never :Surrender: !!! I have to go find a gun show. |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
I have seen this price at Meijer's too
it is crazy ,I thought it was a mistake!!!! |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
It's all about supply and demand. It's hard to find .45 ACP nowadays, and most retailers are charging out the wazoo when they get it. Same with .380 Auto - Bud's wanting $30 for a box of 50 in FMJ. It's just nuts.
The Air Force Base got a shipment of 100 cases each of MagTec 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP about two months ago. I was there the day it came in, and went back a week later. They still had a boatload of the 9mm and .40, but the guy said they sold all 100 cases of the .45 ACP in two days. Looks like right near 50 cents a round is the going rate - when you can find it.... |

Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
Went to WalFart today...no .45 or 9MM ammo but they had about 30 boxes of .40SW (Win and Fed) and about 8 boxes of .44 (Win)
A whole mess of .223 too... |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
The only .45 Cabela's has in stock is American Eagle, $21.99 a box.
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...questid=160970 A few days ago they had a lot in stock, today not much...it comes and it go's |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
Saw more than 10 boxes, 40 rounds, of .308 at Walmart yesterday.

Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
Walmart had some boxes (same brand and quantity/box) this morning at ~$32. Unbelievable that there is this price difference between two stores within a 5 minute walk from each other.

Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
Good afternoon folks, just thought I'd check GIM during a beverage break.
This Tuesday I had some biz transactions and horsetrading with one of this areas largest privately owned gun/sport store chains. A casual conversation with the chain's purchasing manager was enlightening... It was about current ammo and gun prices and his reponse... "Yeah, now the ASSHOLES finally got the price up where they want them and we have to compensate"...this guy has been in the biz for 20+ years. Made sense to me. Have a good weekend folks |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
When I go ammo shopping at Wal-Mart, I stop at no less than 4 locally. I normally come back with maybe two boxes on a good day.

And the box at Big-5 is nearing it's expiration date. |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
We had a brand new Super Wlamart open up by our house and I went in a couple hours after they opened. They didn't have squat for ammo, nothing but some 30-30(2 boxes) and pretty much the rest was 12g shotgun shells. It must be sent out to stores with an eyedropper

Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
I never have any trouble finding ammo to feed my exotic poodle shooters. :bear_w00t:
You guys can rub it in my face when the docks/truck stops close leaving me high and dry and you're buying ammo from the scalpers with a pallet full of .45. :emotions16: |
Re: Big-5 Ammo prices
I went to a gun show today. Plenty of ammo, but less then I expected. And it too was over price, compared to Walmart. I didn't pickup any, but got a cool holster and a 100 Tillion Dollar Zimbabwe note. It's incredible having so much money. I don't think anybody can make change for it, so I'll have to think hard for something real BIG to buy. Is Peru up for sale or maybe all of South America?
